On first visiting the site, you will be greeted with a screen looking similar to
    image

In this screen, you can see there are 2 discussion threads in the "Open Discussion" forum, being the "[HOWTO] JOINING THE SQUAD" and a test "A general discussion..." thread, that you can see in the 'main body' of the website in the middle.

If you look over at the right hand side (of the screenshot above), you will see that these threads in the "Open Discussion" forum sit within the "Public Forums" area.

Official netTerriers Squad Members have a set of Private forums which are hidden from general subscribers. To join the squad, first you need to create an account by reading on.

    CREATE AN ACCOUNT

Either click the [Apply for Membership] button, or alternatively the Facebook, Google or Twitter icons if you wish to login using your social networking account for authentication.

Having clicked the [Apply for Membership] button, fill in the simple form, choosing a Username and Password, agree to the Terms of Service, and click [Sign Up].

If you used your social networking account to join netTerriers.com, having clicked the button you will be asked to login and authorise access by Twitter, Google or Facebook. Follow the instructions, they are straightforward.

Note: If you register an account using Social Networking authentication, you can also login to your account via an alternative authenticator. For example, if you have clicked the Facebook button and created an account on the netTerriers.com website, you can subsequently click the Twitter button, go through the standard authentication with Twitter, then when you are asked to choose a username on netTerriers.com, type your EXISTING username and password (as created when you joined via Facebook). Doing this will mean that you will subsequently be able to login by pressing either the Twitter or Facebook buttons.

The following screenshot shows netTerriers.com having been logged in using a 'TestAccount' who currently has no Squad Membership privileges (ie, using a newly created account).

After your account has been activated, your comment in the SQUAD REGISTRATION thread will be deleted by the admin team, and you'll also see extra forums listed to the right hand side of the screen as per the following screenshot.

As shown in the previous screenshot, the main body of the website by default will show a list of all ongoing discussions, with Announcements floating to the top, with newly posted/replied threads floating upwards under those.

At this stage, you will want to click on the appropriate forum as shown under the Categories list (of 'Upcoming Fixtures', 'Squad Discussions', 'Open Discussions' or any other forums that get added that you have permission to view). The main body screen will now only display the threads from that specific forum.

To view and respond to threads...first use the 'Categories' menu on the right hand side to select which forum you need (or use the default 'All Discussions' view if you desire).

Here, the 'Open Discussions' forum was clicked.

    image

In the main body of the website you can see three discussions. If we click on the 'A general discussion' discussion, then a screen similar to the following is shown.

    image

Currently there is only the initial discussion opening post. Typically you will see comments responded by various posters under that opening post, and then simply type your comment in the empty box and click [Post Comment].

If you wish to respond directly to a point raised earlier in the discussion thread, then click the [Quote] button above a particular comment, you can actually click on the [Quote] button above multiple comments in a single thread, and they will all be extracted to your new comment so you can address multiple specific points that required a direct reference to an earlier post within a single new comment post.

To create an entirely new discussion thread, click the [START A NEW DISCUSSION] button over on the right hand side. On clicking this, you will be able to select which forum the message should be written to...if you happen to be viewing a specific forum when clicking the [START A NEW DISCUSSION] button, then the thread will default to be posted into that forum (but you WILL have the ability to select an alternative forum).

PLEASE take care as to which forum your messages are posted in, particularly if they are to contain sensitive information.

AT THE MOMENT all new discussions contain a [*CLICK TO ATTEND*] button in the first post of a discussion. You can normally ignore this.

However, within the Squad Members forums, specifically within the 'Upcoming Fixtures' forum, when a new prospective fixture is announced - to signal your intended attendance, just click the [*CLICK TO ATTEND*] button, and your name will added to the registration list.

This enables the event organiser to see a quick snap-shot of the number of players intending to turn out for a specific event.

Note As often happens, availability of players for specific fixtures are bulked up by 'friends of squad members' - in this instance, please simply post a reply to point out you have a 'guest'. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for notifying any 'guests' of final details for a fixture, including postponement if a squad couldn't be raised etc. Friends who intend playing more than once or twice should be encouraged to join the website, it makes organising fixtures much easier.

Note If you have clicked to say you can attend, but changing circumstances mean you have to pull out, simply click the [*CLICK TO CANCEL ATTENDANCE*] button which will be available the next time you visit the thread (if you want to IMMEDIATELY cancel an inadvertently clicked [*CLICK TO ATTEND*] button, simply refresh the screen (usually by pressing F5), and the [*CLICK TO CANCEL ATTENDANCE*] button will be displayed.
